A close inspection of this kit reveals that it has ALMOST everything I would want to take with me, if I'm going into the deep woods. I go deer hunting with my son-in-law every winter. Sometimes, we go down to his family's acreage down near Houston. They have a LOT of land and it's easy to get turned around, if you're not familiar with that area. I've been lost in the woods before. It's terrifying. I laid out the entire kit so you can easily identify the contents. There are a couple of changes that I would make. 1) Include a signaling mirror. It's kind of a basic thing that would be helpful in places like the Grand Canyon to help rescue forces locate you. 2) What is that telescoping metal stick for? It looks like an antenna from a radio. But, I can't think of a single use for it. 3) include an instruction book, describing each component and how to use it. There are a lot of folks out there that have never seen a cable saw, flint rod or paracord bracelet before and wouldn't know how to use them. I'm ex-military, former scout and am very familiar with all of these things (except for the antenna thingy). So, I'm comfortable with recommending this kit. It has a lot of valuable tools and is very reasonably priced. Five stars.
Amazing! That’s what I would say to describe this survival kit. You have literally all of it here. From a natural disaster to a simple camping trip this is super ideal to own. Fire blanket, fire starter, compass, water bottle holder, spork, fish scaler, window braking tool, saw, so much more are just a peek of what you’ll get in this set. Best thing is that even though it sounds like a lot it comes all packaged in the small hard covered case that easy to be placed anywhere like a glove department or backpack.
The only drawback of this survival kit for minamalists would be the weight - that said the durability should also be considered and this looks well constructed and durable. The knives/spork could be lighter. You could get that in individually purchased items but here you are getting a lot of multifunctional tools in one kit. I've seen complaints about fitting the items back in the container. I had to laugh at these remarks because what good will some of these items do if left in the box when you need them quickly? The knife and flashlight have belt clips. If you remove the knife, water bottle clip (which should be on a belt or backpack) and bracelet which arguably should all be worn, then everything but the spork fit with room to spare. The bracelet is definitely man sized. The telescope looking thing helps stoke a fire by blowing into it while keeping your face away from eventual flames. I'm happy with this purchase.
As a veteran I have seen and used many products over the last 40 years and trust me when I tell you this one is worth the price. I was genuinely surprised at the quality of the contents and very happy with this purchase. I cannot speak to long term durability yet, but I suspect from my initial inspection I will be just as happy a year from now. I will add that I shopped around quite a bit and have not seen another kit as nice as this one. Pull the trigger, You won't be sorry.
Ok, first of all, it’s a great kit for the price. Period. Flashlight takes the 3.2 v or aa batteries, which is a plus. Light is bright - comparable to my 300 lmn. Knife is decent as are the rest of the tools. Case is too small for my taste.(spork came outside the case) Redistributed contents to my car bag, added a first aid kit, snacks, water and a life straw and couldn’t be happier.
