Great product

Great price, and works amazingly well. Showers of hot sparks.I make handles for all mine out of wood or buffalo horn or similar to make it easier to hold, but you could just put a loop of cord through to do the job as well...Even a wrap of gorilla tape would do. But yeah, definitely recommend this

Great value for the size and quality of this striker

Great value for the size and quality of this striker. I've had good, repeatable sparks from these rods, and the substantial diameter makes it easier to hold and strike with force. I have purchased several of these, and would have no issues with relying on these for fire in a survival situation. I do not need the striker and lanyard that come with many ferro rods, so I'm happy not to pay for it with these guys. Keep it up!

excellent compact ferrorod

I've used many rods, and while there is no replacement for displacement, and a large 1/2x6in rod will always be more confidence inspiring in the field. This little rod has worked flawlessly, and done fantastic single strike ignitions on fatwood scrapings using a knife with a sharp 90* spine (a cold steel finn wolf in this case). Ive used it to start several camp fires and even light up my solo stove and brew some coffee. Very pleased with my purchase, and now carry one on my keychain.

Nothing but sparks

It is thick enough to last a good long time, long enough to hold without a handle and yet the perfect size to fit in my Leatherman case. I have yet to put it to the test in the field, but give this steel a strike and it is nothing but sparks. Word of advice, don't test it out over a good carpet. The sparks stay lit for a second or two... yeah, I found the hard way. Thank goodness it was just a cheap dirt catcher throw rug in our kitchen.

Great ferro rod to depend on.

This ferro rod is a better size to hold and strike with a scraper or knife. The metal is a little softer than others, but it throws hot sparks like crazy! As long as you prepare a good tinder bundle, there is no way you will fail at igniting a fire. I carved feather sticks and this ferro rod lit it after a few strikes. Grab some cotton balls with vaseline and you're good to go for a flame extender.BTW, don't listen to others who say you must have a high carbon steel knife to scrape a ferro rod. I used my Ontario Rat 1 with filed spine to scrape this rod and it's AUS 8 steel. Even broken glass. As long as you have a nice sharp edge, it'll work.
